Status. Rafts have played an important roles in many key events in Lost. A raft was used by the Oceanic Six, Frank, and Desmond until they were rescued by Penny. The Oceanic Six then used it as they were dropped about 8 hours away from the Island of Sumba as part of their cover story.
Who burned the raft?
Michael begins constructing a raft to leave the island, and finishes it after a few days. Walt secretly sets alight to it, completely destroying it. Later, Walt confesses to burning the original raft, explaining that he did not want to leave the island, but decides they need to leave.
